WORK STATEMENT

These paintings depict the emotional legacy of life - the messy, beautiful, scary and extraordinary bits of life that are experienced and remembered. Mark-making, with its immediacy and personal quality is the primary formal element in this work. Conceptually, the paintings mix whimsy, humor and melancholy to comment on a range of universally recognizable human experiences.

We know we are beautiful. And ugly too...
--Langston Hughes
